Eric Kendricks will be going to a different NFC contender in NFL free agency.

After originally agreeing to a deal with the San Francisco 49ers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that he had a "change of heart" and is instead signing with the Dallas Cowboys.

Kendricks joins a Mike Zimmer-led defense in Dallas. He notably played under Zimmer when he was with the Minnesota Vikings. He is the Cowboys' first free-agent signing this offseason.

Kendricks is a nine-year veteran with one Pro Bowl nod and one All-Pro designation. He has registered 1,036 tackles, 18.5 sacks and 36 quarterback hits. He had 117 tackles, 3.5 sacks and seven quarterback hits in his lone season with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023.

He joins a Dallas defense that is not lacking for talent. He will slot in alongside stars like Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs and help a unit that ranked fifth in the NFL in 2023.

Dallas went 12-5 in 2023 and won the NFC East. This helped it earn the No. 2 seed, but the Cowboys were eliminated by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.
