Calvin Ridley Rejects Notion Titans Overpaid on $92M Contract: 'Naw the Right Amount'

Calvin Ridley believes he knows his worth.

After NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the wide receiver and the Tennessee Titans agreed to a four-year, $92 million deal with $50 million in guarantees on Wednesday, Ridley responded to a comment from Dallas Cowboys insider Marcus Mosher suggesting it was too rich of a contract:

The Tennessee agreement was certainly a shocking one, as it came shortly after NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported it was "believed to be a two-horse race" between the Jacksonville Jaguars and New England Patriots.

Ridley's head-turning new deal comes after a tumultuous stretch for him.

He appeared in just five games in 2021 and then missed the entire 2022 campaign because of a gambling suspension. Yet he had the opportunity to bounce back for the Jaguars during the 2023 season, and he did just that.

The Alabama product finished with 76 catches for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns while appearing in all 17 games. It was the second time he surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in his career after he tallied a career-best 1,374 receiving yards during the 2020 season with the Atlanta Falcons.

Ridley further weighed in on the developments on Wednesday after landing such a significant deal following his 2023 efforts:

Now the 29-year-old will look to build on those efforts with a new team and a new contract.

Tennessee now has one of the most notable one-two wide receiver punches in the league with Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins following this move. That should help young quarterback Will Levis further adjust to the NFL and will open up plenty of opportunities for both pass-catchers to make plays downfield.

Opposing defenses won't be able to consistently double-team both receivers, so one of them should always have the chance to make plays against lighter coverage.

And Ridley can more than justify his contract if he does so.
